flower and garden shows that aren't overrun with vendors?

It seems like all the garden shows are less about gardens, and more about what vaguely related things can be sold.

Does anyone know of any which are still actually about the plants?

I have been to the Portland (ME) and Boston flower shows in recent years. They both suffer from 'not enough flowers' in a couple of ways. One, a high proportion of vendors selling things at best vaguely related to gardens. Two, an emphasis on hard-scape, lots of rock and other stuff *requiring* a crew to install. Presumably these are the people who get a return on the investment of being a part of the show. On the up side there does seem to be a movement toward more naturalistic gardens. I have still yet to see much in the way of Permaculture.

Permaculture at a garden show? Seems unlikely, at least while it's still all about selling things; that tends to be mainstream, so.
