wispfoxOh, another comment from my not-currently-feverish brain.
It is truly nifty to be invited to something, simply because you are specifically wanted there, even though the people inviting are aware that you probably won't go (in this case, because of the evil time of year, and not because of a lack of interest). The combination of having one's presence specifically requested, but not having any sort of pressure because of it, is really nice.
I adore my friends! *has a generally warm fuzzy feeling at everyone*
