idle notes

Cats? Are not ergonomic. No matter how much they think they belong on one's lap. Instead of the keyboard that one is _trying_ do work on.

Ice-encased vehicles make getting places on time more complex. But heaters and defrosters are good. Ice-encased driveways are interesting to walk on and drive back up when one gets home again.

It's bloody grey out. Which spelling of gray is right, anyway? I'm just going to randomly change between the two. That works less well when one had a teacher with one of those two as his last name in high school.

I miss singing in Handel's Messiah when I was in high school. I think I was in the soprano section because when my voice was in shape, I was _almost_ a soprano. I need to track down a recording of that. And of the Carol of the Bells. Since those are the two xmas music bits of which I am very, very fond.

There is a small beany baby lizard on my monitor. This pleases me for inexplicable and yet pleasant reasons. LIZARD!

Winter says hi. Also, it says I need more uppers. Stupid winter.

I need more piano music. Makes my brain quieter.

Tired.

A monitor lizard?

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes!

Wait, no.

Ok, now I have _even more glee_ about the lizard. Thank you. :)

sporfle.

Also, I have piano music. And a piano, for that matter.

gray = American
grey = English / rest of world. I use grey for no good reason. Gray looks like it'd sound like donkey braying.

I could track down the Brandeis Messiah sing if you wanted to *go* to one. You're invited.

Alas!

Re: Messiah

Drat. I kinds would have liked to do that too. I suppose we could try to find another one. Also, I have a 2-cd recording of it...

You have a recording? Hmm... shall have to borrow and see if I want to get myself a copy. :)

True! I meant recordings, but you playing does also work well for brain quieting purposes.

I note that I am very likely to forget which is which (gr[ea]y) immediately, but noted for the moment. :)

Aaaaah. But still, yay lizard!

[identity profile] desert-born.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
apparently, grey was the original (presumably correct) spelling, and gray is an Americanized version. both are correct.

also, people counteract grey. which says an awful lot about why i've been feeling craptacular for the past few years.

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
People can help counteract grey, yes. Mostly. :)

We're going to sing the Hallelujah chorus (at least, maybe more) as part of the Christmas Eve service at First Parish. If you might want to join us, let me know and I'd be happy to share details.

Unfortunately, I'm flying off to SF for a week on Christmas Eve.

But thank you! I'd totally be interested were I around. :)

If you don't mind sitting in the library, I'll play for you sometime. Silly to have a piano and not play it for people. Sillier to play the piano and have a phobia of playing in front of people!

I do not mind, and would like to hear you play sometime. :)
