[Boston area] [livejournal.com profile] dilletante notes that someone is paying attention to what motivates professional research subjects. BRAAAAAAINS.

[livejournal.com profile] dglenn has a delightful mathematics and sex-related quote.

I'm doing a startlingly good job of ignoring the fact that [livejournal.com profile] australian_joe leaves tomorrow, since thinking about it is unlikely to be, in any way, helpful. And, well, there is time _today_.

And I'm pleased by the fact that I appear to have _finally_ gotten to a state where some final thing clicked in my head relating to the reality of him (and us). It's kinda like there was something in my head which hadn't gotten enough of... something (time in-person?), so it was still holding out. Or something. And now that isn't true anymore. More of the comfortable/right, and less of the disbelief. And I really don't know how to word this, so I stop.

I do wonder if this will a) reduce my excessive clinginess when he visits (or at least make it last for less long), and b) reduce my difficulty with time apart, and perhaps the degree to which my time apart timeout has a negative effect on things. We shall see!

I was using sex is the mathematics urge sublimated back in college. Of course, I followed it up with "And I have a very strong mathematics urge!" (which is true).

(Though I'll admit one of my friends did make me pause when she responded "Randy, I don't think you sublimate *anything*" :-})

You know dglenn? (Of course you do. Everyone I know knows everyone else, and I should just get used to it, already.)

Good for you on the click-thing. Time-is-limited-relationships can be stressful, and I'm glad to hear that it changed modes in your brain to a more comfortable state.

dglenn: We met at Baitcon a couple of years ago, so yes. :) (I blame Suspects)

time-is-limited & stressful: Yes. Indeed, although the 'distance is the normal and expected state' makes it an awful lot easier than I thought it could ever be. I entered into this relationship _very_ hesitantly, since I don't tend to be good with long distance relationships.

Ah. Of course. Everyone's on suspects. :)

I've not done LD for quite a while, so I'd be inclined to be very cautious myself, I expect.

*grin* Not quite, but it seems that way sometimes!

I've not done LD for quite a while, so I'd be inclined to be very cautious myself, I expect.

*nod* I'd never done LD for very long before now, and it was always _intensely_ difficult and painful when I did.

It's still... odd to me that this works so startlingly well (even including my current not so pleasant mental/emotional state).
