[good, bad] grumpy

+Antibiotics. Only have to take them for 5 days (well, assuming that they work...).
-Exhausted due to antibiotics, the sinus infection they are fighting, and insufficient sleep
-hurt my foot due to too much driving Sunday (not entirely sure how I did this)
+My foot's getting better! I'm mostly not limping anymore.
-Intensely wanted socialization last night, but unwilling to try to cope with Diesel or drive anywhere
-not having friends who live near enough to me, nor knowing if anyone would be available with such little notice anyway
+calling [livejournal.com profile] starandrea in order to be at least somewhat social
+phone calls actually being a positive enough thing (with specific people) that it helped my radomly wanting socialness
+putting plastic on more of my windows in order to keep heat in
-Staying up till 11pm because of being obsessive about window plasticification
+hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] nex0s Friday night
+going-away party after that, Friday night
-unlikely to get enough sleep Friday night, which is bad while sick. And getting to the party kinda late makes me nervous.
+no plans Saturday or Sunday. I will make myself rest!
+Thinking about going to LL Bean in Freeport on Saturday or Sunday, though, because I don't really have winter clothing (other than coats) that I _like_
-Daylight Savings Sunday. It'll be getting dark an hour earlier. Dammit.
-Almost certainly no [livejournal.com profile] australian_joe next month.
+Almost certainly an [livejournal.com profile] australian_joe in January.
+APC12 in January
-The two things above are in January. One of my two worst months of the year.
-My phone is inordinantly difficult to turn back on after turning it off
+going to a Verizon Wireless place after work to hopefully do something about this

Yep. Irritable today. Want sleep. Want people (in general) to leave me alone, but want to be held (by someone who _wants_ to hold, and isn't doing it because I ask them to!) and to natter about random stuff. *grump*

Hey!
+I got to use the word 'natter'. I like that word, for some reason.

And...
+it's sunny. And it was sunny yesterday.

On the bright side, by my count you're at +4 :)

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
True!

But I didn't include any sort of weight for any of those things.

Being tired is a major negative, for example.

*shrug* I like being at +4, regardless of my actual mood. ;)

[identity profile] ian-gunn.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Does that make you a +4 Wispfox of Nattering?

As good as a Vorpal sword and without the tell tale Snicker-Snack.

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm. Nattering...

Sure! But what does that make me useful for?

[identity profile] ian-gunn.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
What first pops to mind: She dices, she slices, she does julienne fries. But that's not quite right.

Hummm, can galumphing be involved? I like that word, all of jabberwocky really. No, still not right.

How about this: good for distracting the target by changing topics at whim, causing mental whiplash, inducing confusion, sneaking past verbal barriers and finally sedating the target with hypnotic verbal banter. The primary purpose in the use of nattering is to achieve hugs. Yeah, that seems about right. :)

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Mental whiplash sounds unpleasant, though!

Nattering to obtain hugs sounds fun. :)

[identity profile] ian-gunn.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Mental whiplash sounds unpleasant, though!

Could be, but not the meaning I was attempting to convey. Hummm, I need a word or pithy phrase that means "finding connections between two(or more) apparently very different/opposite things/concepts/actions in such a way to cause both confusion and delight in the listener". I think this counts as a subset of "mental whiplash" but my concept to word locater is spinning its wheels today.

Hugs are good, yes. :)

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-29 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
A similar concept is here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/sapiosexual/7009.html?thread=23393#t23393), but explained rather than named.

[identity profile] ian-gunn.livejournal.com 2004-10-29 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes! I like that concept. Thanks for the pointer and reminder that I want to join that community. Not that I need yet another reason to keep poking my nose in at LJ when I should otherwise be occupied. At least that one seems to have a low volume.

"natter" = doubleplusgood.
jasra: (red)

[personal profile] jasra 2004-10-28 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
A + for me... that I will most likely get to meet you. That pleases me muchly.

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* True! That'd be another + for me, as well. :)

Yay, meeting!
jasra: (cartoon with kitty)

[personal profile] jasra 2004-10-28 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh! Another + for me: Monday the 17th is a holiday so I only am using 7 vacation days, not 8. *pleased*

Yay, meeting indeed!

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, nice! Having to use fewer vacation days is always a plus. :)

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
*enjoys*

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
+Almost certainly an [info]australian_joe in January.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/wispfox/176238.html

Jan 8th - [info]australian_joe arrives?

Jan 29th - [info]australian_joe leaves

Based on those dates... I should be around to say "hi!"

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! They aren't definite yet, of course.

You are almost certainly going to be here in January, then?

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I haven't technically registered for the conference, but I have reserved a room with a few other people. So... yes.

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I shall note that fact in my calendar. ;) (did!)

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I kept meaning to tell you and kept forgetting.

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
There are many months; I don't think there was a rush. :)

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That's my other excuse. :)

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-29 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Also! [livejournal.com profile] wurmyd will be in area for conference, but shorter timespan. You should poke him about it.

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-29 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm! You know, for a low socialization time of year, January will be highly social, at this rate!

*attempts to remember to poke [livejournal.com profile] wurmwyd (I think you forgot a 'w')*

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-29 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, take your time out to cope, k? :)

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-10-29 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall. I think I shall not ping [livejournal.com profile] wurmwyd, as I'm thinking that things are already going to be social enough with you, [livejournal.com profile] jasra, and [livejournal.com profile] australian_joe all visiting.

But! Visiting. :)

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-31 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay visiting! People there just for you (and, well, the conference).

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I think one is visiting me, specifically, one is here for the conference, and one is here for Arisia and time around that. But not entirely positive about that last part. :)

[identity profile] ian-gunn.livejournal.com 2004-10-29 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Hey! Some kind of library science conference? I would not mind saying hi in person if it is possible. I've enjoyed the few chats we've had on LJ. No problem if it is not possible.

[identity profile] bridgetester.livejournal.com 2004-10-29 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know, as I'm not really sure of my schedule.
