[geeky] Firefox plugins

So, I have the LiveJournal Hook in firefox, which means that - because I want to be actually _using_ my icons - I've got it set to use a random icon when I post and when I comment. This means I suddenly start trying to pay better attention to which one is picked, especially since it doesn't preview icons in comments.

And it does, in fact, mean I use icons more often! (and sometimes I don't notice and use a very odd one for the context)

(In case anyone cares, I also have Dictionary Search, Forecast Fox, BugMeNot, Keyconfig (so I can make backspace not go back a page!), Ad Block, and El Jay Icon Maker. I use some more than others, but they all seemed useful enough. I can't remember the name of the extension that [livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha pointed to which allowed one to resize text entry boxes, so I don't have it installed...)

Here is the Resizeable Textarea (http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=2796) extension. I think this one has to be one of my favorites thus far.

Oooh. Yay! Thanks. :)

I was gonna say, I got it from [livejournal.com profile] jasra, so just give a holler.  :)

I think my favorite is still the calendar extension. I love having an online calendar. And such a nice UI!

Adblock is a close second though - not having flashy things distracting me all the time is quite nice.

Hmm. What does the calendar extension do, exactly?

[identity profile] motyl.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a nice calendar application. It also does webdav so it can be a nice, remote calendar you can access from any computer with firefox. Which I love.

I'd been looking for a good calendar app just when it came out, so I'm hooked. Also have a couple of friends on it which makes for easy time-synching and more niftiness.

Hmm.

I suspect the fact that I have my calendar in my Palm - and do my best to keep it synced with my livejournal calendar post - is sufficient. But thanks!

I'm a Thunderbird and Firefox Extension junkie, so I'm going to have to post to my blog about it when I get a chance later. Thanks esp. for LiveJournal Hook and BugMeNot, I hadn't tried them before!

Also, Linkification... makes links clickable even if the person didn't code it that way.

Hmm....

Maybe! I'm not sure if I trust that one; I can think of reasons why one might do such a thing (not making a link linkable) intentionally, so I'd want to _know_ about such.

It's very helpful for doing support stuff 'cause people always drop links in email which don't get translated to the web interface as clickable links. So this fixes that problem.

If I type http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0379786/ then I make you have to copy/paste because it won't be a link for you (though LJ may fix that for me, I forget).

Anyway, handy for me. Less with the copy/paste stuff. :)

Yes, LJ fixes that. :)

But yes, I can see how that would be useful for you!
