[livejournal.com profile] dancingwolfgrrl's userpic makes my brain happy:

However, I can't find the explaination of where it came from. I do know that it's a real road sign, though!

[huh. I appear to no longer have any _quietly_ happy userpics! May have to address that lack...]

Where

I think thats a road sigh from Austraila. Based on this site: http://www.biggodadventures.com/fun.html. Which makes a referance to said signs. Not sure its conclusive, but its a hint.

Yeah, somewhere in Victoria, which is the southeastern county (hence the "Vicroads" visible on the bottom), right next to a little rest stop. I think it's between Cape Otway and Melbourne somewhere, based on the date of the picture.

That reminds me that I have a post brewing about powernaps and their relation to ADD and the autism-spectrum. Thanks!

On a windy bit of suburban road in East London, South Africa where nobody kept to the speed limit, they put up a warning sign saying "You're driving too fast." A few hundred metres down the road there's another sign saying "You're still driving too fast."

[identity profile] wispfox.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*laugh* That's great.

I wonder if people who _don't_ speed tell the sign it lies? I know I would feel that urge. ;)

[identity profile] 3smallishmagi.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Yeah, I've done both: been amused when I was still going too fast and indignant when I was not. It was a neat idea but putting jokes on semi-permanent features will get annoying fast if it gets to be too widespread.

Along the road from Albury to Wangaratta in Victoria is another sign in that series that says "Powernap Now!" Not something I'd do while hurtling down the road at 110 ks.

I'm guess they call it a "powernap" rather than just a nap so that people who think they are too tuff for naps will have a sleep anyway.

Indeed! That sounds dangerous.

Pull over, _then_ powernap. ;)

That's from where I am!

VicRoads is our state road authority.

I haven't seen that sign myself, but it would make sense that it be on a country road rather than in the city. (I live 5 miles from downtown Melbourne.)
