By [livejournal.com profile] psongster, getting universal health coverage in MA -- it could happen!

And now, I wish that sleeping last night hadn't been quite so difficult, and that I had just gotten up when I was awake at 7am. Sleeeeeepy.

More incentive to move! *dances*

Well... only if it happens, no?

True, true.

having universal health care won't eliminate admin jobs, it'll just create new ones. eventually there will be fewer of those, but they'll need people to handle the implementation of the program, and then people to handle ongoing stuff.

and just because everyone's covered wouldn't mean there isn't paperwork to get specific things covered. like expensive prescriptions, orthotics, mobility aids, etc.

p.s.

which isn't to say i am not for it. i am. it's just to say that the gut reaction of "oh no, people will lose jobs!" is a bit of a farce.

Between more people having jobs and everyone having state health care, I'd go with the health care, and giving those people support to find other jobs.

Then again, keeping bureaucratic jobs isn't a high priority for me because I don't entirely see the point of them.
