Sorry, let me try again. I am not sure either conservatism or liberalism has a clear balance towards either specific rules or obedience to what one is supposed to know automatically because everyone knows it. I think either can be seen that way, depending on the individual's experiences. I grew up thinking of conservatism as an attitude one was supposed to abosrb naturally while liberalism was a matter of following rules. Now I can see opposite aspects of both.
