[random bits] Physical complaints, and a link

I frequently gain bruises for no apparent reason. I'm a klutz. I've done this my entire life. But how the hell did I manage a bruise in the inside of my left leg, right next to my knee?

Excessive ammounts of soy appear to have a similar effect on me to excessive dairy, although my tolerance for soy is much higher than for dairy. I know this because, during the 1.5-2 weeks during which I was basically not sleeping, I was being really, really lazy. And apparently most of the lazy but at least vaguely healthy foods in the house are overwhelmingly soy (soy yogurt, soy protein drinks, cereal with soy in it and with soy milk on it). Not only that, but apparently it's really _hard_ to find food with no soy at all in it. As I found out once I decided that my body needed a break in order to recover from the excess.

Currently, my digestion is somewhat confused (the effect on me of excess soy), so I'm trying to not eat soy or dairy until it has had enough of a break. This has been interesting. On the plus side, I _do_ have reasonably healthy non-soy foods in my house. Oatmeal for breakfast. Some sort of pasta thing that I got for working group. Salads in the cafeteria downstairs. Still. It's weird having to pay so much attention.

I'm so glad I don't have any major food (I have minor ones, though - dairy and apparently soy will cause digestion issues if I have too much, and pineapple/kiwi juices give me canker sores) or drug allergies. Seriously!

Also, the link. [livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha has good things to say about the payoffs of behaviors, including negative ones.

I like soy milk and tofu hot dogs and other fake meats. I just read an article at mothering.com on the dangers of soy. I hate to think my beloved health food is now considered harmful. Not fair.

Wishing you health, and a reflective state of mind as you take time for self according to your astrology letter forcasting for Libras.

Thanks. Although I was already doing the taking time for self, which is why it amused me so very much. :)

Mmm pineapple. I have to watch how much of that I have due to the acidy stuff.

the pineapple/kiwi is a common one, it's a type of contact irritation. Happens to some people with grapes and bananas too, and some folks can't eat raw fruit at all because of it.

*blink* Common?

It is?

Huh. OK, now I'm all surprised. ;)

Anemia will do that...

Which? The bruises, or the digestive stuff?

If the bruises, I am likely low on iron, and know it. Periodically take iron pills for that reason.

If the digestive stuff... huh? It will?
