Ok... so, Verizon still seems to think my DSL will be working by tonight.

Even though I have no dial tone.

On the plus side, they are sending a tech out Saturday morning to try to trace the line to my building, to see if they can figure out what's going on. I hope it's them and not the inside line, because in the latter case I would have to get the landlord involved in figuring it out.

It should be easy to tell if the problem is inside or outside, well, if you have one of those grey boxes you can find, a NID (network interface device). Open it up, find phone jacks, and plug a phone into them. If it works there and not inside, the problem is inside. That's part of what those things are for.

Can't figure out which one is mine, though; I'm in a house with four apartments. And, even if I used trying to call myself to test that it was the right one (I have a cell, so I can), I can't find the phone jacks in those boxes (there are two).

Believe me, I tried this... *sigh*
