A good electric kettle is faster than a microwave, and a lot faster than the stovetop.

Yeah, I saw that. Made me start thinking about getting one. Except apparently they aren't cheap here, and my stovetop one works fine.

Interesting, as far as the cleaning part! My hot water does, in fact, get hot reasonably quickly, thankfully. Must make showering really, really annoying!
