[sleep & dreams]

So, I'm much less irritable today (although still irritable - it was oddly disturbing to go through patches of rapidly alternating light and shadow on the way to work this morning. I kept wanting to bat away the shadows).

Sleep happened; the difference between the night before and last night being not trying to go to bed so early (no matter how tired I was) and not using a pillow (still ended up using melatonin, though). I often forget that removing my pillow can (but does not always) help.

Something I forgot to say yesterday is that this is not always a problem. It's intermittant, although _far_ more common once the sunlight starts being less direct in the wintertime. For example, I slept perfectly fine - although longer than I'd have liked - last night and Sunday night. Monday night was insufficient, but not so restless and dream-filled as Tuesday night. If it were _always_, I'd certainly have gone to my doctor about it by now. Or even if it were more often than not, since insufficient sleep always affects me so very strongly.

So. I shall certainly try the OTC thing suggested by... I think it was [livejournal.com profile] phaedra_lari, and although I really doubt it's likely, shall investigate the possibility of sleep apnea (since apparently the first step is ridiculously simple anyway).

Thanks to you all for your suggestions! (this is not to say that additional ones would not be appreciated; they would!)
