I have a similar privacy problem, enough such that I frequently don't talk about things with other people until I have their explicit written permission. I'd forget it if they just told me. So, I've gotten very good at generalizing...

BTW, you have my explicit permission to share anything you want about me; I have very little that is private. If I ever need something to be private, I will express it as such every time that I talk about it. As for LJ, about the only reason I ever lock things is to keep it out of search engines...
