I agree -- it depends largely on what you're looking for. I think the tactic of reading through the clan lists and seeing what pops out at you is a good one in general
You might think about what you're looking to gain from the experience -- do you want to check out the community? Do you have some piece of personal work you'd like to do? Are you interested in exploring a particular kind of practice?
I have personally never found Twilight to be a very social gathering -- I have made connections with people in my clan several times, but there's not a lot of miscellaneous hanging out time. I've done two clans that cabined together, and those were actually where I did the *most* hanging out with my clanmates.
