A weekend in summary

left work early, since I wasn't able to get anything useful done, anyway.

Managed to burn both shoulders in the first hour in the car on the way there. Stopped to apply aloe and sunscreen, and the rest of the trip there got gradually darker and darker until it was raining pretty hard. So much for needing sunscreen! But I bet my shoulders liked the aloe, and _I_ liked the break. Made the drive feel less overly long.

Pretty drive. Even considering it's the longest drive I've done (a bit over 2.5 on the way there, almost 3 on the way home), it was simple, and pretty. But driving home while (almost certainly) coming down with a cold and exhausted was interesting, since it was mostly highway and therefore boring.

Arrived with it sprinkling, and no longer pouring. Wandered around trying to figure out where I needed to be, with all sorts of stuff hanging from me (I'm a pack horse!). Lots of mud. Didn't bother leaving my sandles on, because I knew the mud would eat them. Squishy, slightly chilly mud! Everywhere! (need to wash lots of laundry, yes I do!)

Eventually figured out where to get my arm band, and found the camp in which [livejournal.com profile] cos was, although he's not who I ran into first. I actually have no idea who it was that I ran into first. Ah, yes, my name/face recognition skills leave much to be desired!

Put my stuff into the tent which [livejournal.com profile] cos had been kind enough to bring ahead of time and set up for me, so no tent setup in the middle of rain! Yay! And [livejournal.com profile] regyt's stuff was already in there, although she was not.

Decided to wander around for a bit, partly because I was hungry. Most of the vendors were closed, because of the rain, but I still managed to get a decent sense of the layout, which was valuble. So was walking around, since I'd been driving for so long before getting there.

I don't remember what else I did that day. I know I met [livejournal.com profile] queen_of_wands at some point that evening, and it was not until she gave me her LJ name that I had some place to file her in my head and actually _remember_ her. I know I found [livejournal.com profile] regyt in the tent when I got back from wandering.

I know I stayed up until _really_ late, presumably at some music thing or another. I don't remember which one(s). This was also the night during which having my head horizontal to the ground resulted in intermittant dizziness (and it has continued since then, annoyingly, although the suspicion now is that I was coming down with a cold). Annoyingly.

Slept decently, very glad to have brought earplugs with me. Crazy ground. Didn't use the air mattress because it was way too much trouble to inflate it, and because it was soaked, due to having been outside during the rain storm which I mostly missed. Lent my pillow to [livejournal.com profile] regyt because I don't always use them. I also had a blanket thing as part of my sleeping bad, and ended up using that when I thought I wanted a pillow. Which worked.

Saturday it was sunny when I finally stopped pretending to be asleep, so I was good and used sunscreen in places I didn't have covered by clothing. Ended up deciding that sunscreen was way too much trouble, and purchased myself a lovely sarong (I had more at home, and was wearing one as a skirt, but only brought the one with me) to drap over myself in strategic locations. Successfully managed to avoid additional burns this way on Saturday, and I got a nifty sarong in the process!

Also purchased myself a drum, which pleases me. (Y'know, sometimes I feel like I collect instruments, perhaps because I have no strong talent for any of them, but like some enough to want to play with them) And lots and lots and lots of CDs. Around 20 of them. Is good that I expected to spend money this weekend, because I sure did! Music is my other addiction (the first one being books).

Lots of music. Some new to me, some not. Music good. Felt weird not having some of the people I associate with folk music there, but that feeling was sufficiently rare to not be problematic for me.

Didn't really do a good enough job of escaping people, possibly because I wasn't aware that I was in the middle of becoming ill, which affects my people ability. Is ok, though, because I was at least good enough to go to bed early enough to be functional and reasonably cheery.

Apparently my cell phone _does_ work at Falcon Ridge, which is good to know.

Did a lot of hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] regyt, which pleases me. And a good amount of taking advantage of a previous offer for cuddling should that be something I want to do. This also pleases me.

Did some slightly less huge amounts of hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] cos, [livejournal.com profile] redheadedmuse, and [livejournal.com profile] queen_of_wands. Also was very cool, even if my socialability was suffering a little.

Hung out randomly with people after Eddie From Ohio in the evening, including introducing [livejournal.com profile] regyt to Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer's music, since people kept referring to the lack of Dave Carter and she didn't know who that was. Also helped [livejournal.com profile] regyt move stuff to the vehicle of escaping.

Mud of squishy was mostly much less squishy on Sunday. Barefoot, though!

Oh! And pictures happened on Saturday, which I will post at some point. I was _colorful_! Yay color!

Got a hat replacement at some point, I think on Sunday, because Sunday the sun was more insistent than Saturday, and the hat I had was insufficiently wide-brimed and didn't let my scalp breathe. I hate hats less than I did before, now. Even if they do make me feel like my ears are wearing blinders. Because it's nice to not be trying to wear sunscreen when I don't get to shower and it makes my skin feel even ickier!

My brain is _not_ working very well today, so I stop trying to summarize, as I'm not really doing a very good job, and have no sense of how much sense I'm making. [livejournal.com profile] regyt's description probably makes more sense than this does.

I also want to go back next year. Preferrably while _not_ in the middle of getting sick!
