Natural break in my work, and a need to leave in a few minutes means that I actually have time to write a post! Shock!

_Why_ do you save all the slides I scan into a single file? I want them separate! And I don't know how to separate them myself...

Makes me sad to have to scan them one at a time, restarting the software every darn time.

Stupid thing. And I can't find anything useful with a google search.

Feature requests everywhere!

Largely of the 'please make this tedious thing that computers ought to be good at not something that I have to do by hand', but also of the 'really, you don't have this obvious repetative-stress reducing thing implemented?' variety.

I've had at least one of my lab-mates comment that I should have been involved in the design of MediaLab. And my adviser is all sorts of impressed that I can read the docs from them.

I'm quite irritable about school stuff.

In part, it's difficult to not hear "waitlist" as "no". Perhaps in part because I do not want to get my hopes up that enough/any people ahead of me decide to not accept.

In part, I don't want to have to apply to schools again so soon.

In part, I have trouble not hearing it as 'not being good enough' and 'so why bother'. Even though I _did_ get wait-listed, rather than just plain 'no', at the two schools that I actually went to and talked to people at. During a time when the economy sucks so more people are going to school instead, and there is less money for schools and graduate positions really need funding.

In part, I don't like the probability that I will not only not be working, but will also not be in school. Yes, this means that I can do my best to improve my chances for next year (eg, I am going to investigate working in research labs, and perhaps taking classes that I would need to take anyway). But both not working _and_ not being in school seems just plain _wrong_, somehow. Like I failed.

But I really need a break from my current job. And working full-time makes it much harder to do things more specifically to improve my chances of acceptance.

Also, hello huge looming unknown and transition state! Not working? Not being in school? GAH!

So yeah. Grumpy. And avoidy.

And of course I got sick over the weekend and didn't get to go to the Spring party or the massage party or have my date with [livejournal.com profile] metahacker. And spent most of my time either sleeping or doing mindless things in WoW. Although [livejournal.com profile] galaneia and I did weed a bit yesterday.

I have no idea when I should hear about the waitlist at Brandeis, but Tufts has the 15th as when people need to reply by. Y'know, the day I quit. This week. Thursday.

I truly dislike quitting when I do not have any reason to believe that I have specific plans for when I come back from my trip.

Ah, well. I'll figure it out.

Eeeeee! Yay!

Tablet PC WORKS!

*testing glee*

Mwa-ha-ha-ha!

The tablet PC is now doing my bidding in that it's acting as a tablet now.

Now to try to figure out how to get it to rotate appropriately...

Still sick. Less sick. At work today, hopefully will manage to be useful. We will see if I last a whole day or not.

Slept for crap, but considering how much I'd slept the previous two days, I still feel pretty ok, considering. (not being able to breathe makes my body refuse to let me sleep)

Passed in my homework a couple of days ago, since I knew I would not be functional any time before it was due and it was close enough anyway.

So my class is largely finished!

Y'know, I think I see more of the developers I work with during update testing than I see of anyone else, both during that time and at any other time. it's kind of funny. hey, at least I actively _like_ said co-workers. :)

-random conversations with a co-worker about interesting zoos in China with lots of tigers and pandas (made all the better by the sheer _glee_ involved in talking about it)
-People wanting to help me to do research, both just to help me out, and because they are themselves curious (even if some of them were unable due to requirements)
-Pretty music, from various sources, including suggestions by people I'm close to and things played by sweeties
-seeing people who are usually too far away, even if as is always true the visit is too brief.
-bursting out laughing multiple times during said visit
-local sweetie returned to the area
-thoroughly not-local sweetie to be here again in about a month
-hugs
-kisses
-best roommate in the world still is both the best and my roommate.
-funny/good/interesting conversations with all sorts of people
-kitty remembers that it's the time of year that I sit in front of the light for breakfast time, and comes running from wherever he is in the house when he hears the light click on
-I'm driving myself to work three days a week, taking a class, working full-time (which is being especially crazy right now). And my wrists _are still handling things_.
-is loved.
-loves.
-silly camera videos of dogs wrestling. One of which was partly under a sheet. Sheet puppy! Really, _really_ happy puppy tails!
-"hers [camera] is bigger than yours!"

Just happy.

And it's certainly not the weather! :) Even if the trees do remain pretty.

Ok, back to working again.

Oh, right. There are good things involved with being QE. Sometimes, things work _right_. Not just correctly, but the way that they _should_ sanely work. *glee*
